This group of works I did partly in a second residency at Sol Print Studio in Baltimore, December 2019. I continued to work on it  in Houston at ARRO Studio with artist, photographer and printmaker, Armando Rodriguez, from January to March, 2020.

 With previous knowledge from my first residency in Baltimore, and encouraged by artist Soledad Salamé, this time around  I engaged in a more complex project involving digital, solar and serigraphy printing. The first phase of it, I printed in Houston. In Baltimore, I made  and printed the solar plates, and finally I did some serigraphy printing back in Houston, where I continued working on another group of prints related to the original project. Yet another world of expressive possibilities opened up to me.  

CAROLINA OTERO.

Born in Paris, France, Carolina Otero is a Venezuelan visual artist based in Houston, Texas. A graduate of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City.  Otero works on painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, printmaking, photography and more recently, plaster and ceramics.

In addition to her lifelong practice as a visual artist, Otero relishes teaching art. Her interest in learning creative processes has led her to pursue independent studies related to pedagogy and human development.
